What is GIFT IFSC?

GIFT IFSC, located in Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City), is India’s first operational International Financial Services Centre. It enables global investment and international stock trading under a unified regulatory environment governed by IFSCA. GIFT IFSC offers tax benefits, liberal regulations, and access to global financial markets.

Why Invest in the Global Market?

Global investing provides access to companies, industries and investment opportunities across different countries. It can help diversify your portfolio beyond the Indian market and provide exposure to international businesses and currencies.

This diversification helps to mitigate domestic risks, enhance returns, and provide currency benefits. Also, investors gain access to high-growth sectors and emerging brands thriving in the global economy.

Who can open an account?

Eligible resident Indian individuals, Non-Resident Indians (NRIs), Overseas Citizens of India (OCIs), foreign individuals and eligible entities may apply, subject to the relevant product, jurisdiction and onboarding requirements.

All applications are subject to KYC, AML checks and approval. The products available to each investor depend on their eligibility, country of residence and platform restrictions.

Can resident Indians invest in US stocks through this platform?

Yes. Eligible resident Indian individuals can invest in permitted US stocks and ETFs under the RBI’s Liberalised Remittance Scheme (LRS).

The overall LRS limit is USD 250,000 per individual per financial year, covering all permitted LRS remittances combined.

Please note that Derivatives trading on NSEIX and India INX is available for NRIs and is not within the LRS product scope for Indian residents.

Which markets can I access through Indo Thai Globe Fin (IFSC) Limited?

Through our global access arrangement with India INX Global Access, eligible clients can invest in supported US-listed stocks and exchange-traded funds (ETFs), including securities listed on the NYSE and NASDAQ.

What are fractional shares?

Fractional shares allow you to purchase a portion of a share instead of buying one whole share. Imagine buying 0.1 shares of a $500 stock for $50. This makes high-priced stocks like Apple, Tesla, or Amazon accessible without needing the full share price.

This allows you to invest smaller amounts in higher-priced stocks. Availability, minimum investment amounts, order types and transferability depend on the relevant security and platform terms.

Can resident Indians trade US futures and options under LRS?

No. LRS regulations do not permit Indian residents to trade in derivatives (futures & options) on foreign exchanges. Only equity (cash segment) investments are allowed.

Are trades at GIFT IFSC settled in INR or foreign currencies?

Trades are settled in USD or other freely convertible currencies, making it a true global investing gateway from India.

What are the exemption benefits in investing through GIFT IFSC?

Investing via GIFT IFSC exempts you from Securities Transaction Tax (STT), Commodity Transaction Tax (CTT), GST on brokerage (Only For Foreign nationals, foreign entities, NRIs), and Stamp Duty. These exemptions make GIFT IFSC one of the most cost-effective routes for global investing from India.
